Tour time-Part 2
For the second installment of my tour, I wanted to move to the wall immediately adjacent to the last post and show off some of the mega baseball stars populating this wall.
This kind of shows a brief overview of the area. The two frames barely visible on the right hand side are the Lemieux and Rodman photos from the last post as a point of reference. We will start with the big names on the wall. Mike Trout, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, and Hank Aaron.
I don't talk about them much, but in the foreground are a few of the bobbleheads I've put out just to give a little bit of a different feel to the room. There is a set of the 2018 Padres giveaways commemorating their 1998 World Series trip (yes this team is so bad they celebrate getting swept in a World Series). There are four cool Trout bobbles, and a couple others mixed in. The Trout photo above was from the private signing he held a couple of years ago. As his signature has evolved the past few years I'm happy with the way this one looks. The Aaron, Mantle, and Williams photos are all recent adds as I've gone through a spurt of adding big ticket names to my collection. If you click around my blog, you'll find the posts about the individual items.
Padres 50th, Gwynn, Hoffman, Caminiti, Vaughn, Wil Myers Cycle, Winfield Fanfest in front
Trout MVP collection, Trout ROY bobble, Bob Miller
In the middle is a slabbed ticket from the game in which Tony Gwynn got his 3000th hit in Montreal against the Expos. There was around 10k in attendance that day so a lot of those unused tickets were converted into souvenirs methinks. RIP Tony, I still love that guy.
The next piece is a Junior Seau signed NFL football inscribed "Say-Ow". I believe I have talked about this piece before but my parents won this in a United Way raffle a long time ago. It might be the first signed sports memorabilia I ever owned.
Junior Seau makes another appearance as we move up the wall, and shares wall space next to Laker great Magic Johnson with some framed photos. The Seau was another item won a log time ago via United Way (my grandma worked with United Way a lot hence my access to these pieces). The picture actually came in a plaque with a Seau card, but the way the picture was fastened to the plaque bothered me and was exposing it to light and acid. I took it out and framed it myself.
Next up? Hockey pucks! This case will eventually be completely full but for now I will have to be satisfied with the big names in there. Bottom row working my way left to right and up. Nathan MacKinnon, Gerry Cheevers, Ryan McDonagh game used puck, Joe Thornton, Nicklas Lidstrom, Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Dustin Brown, Martin Broduer, Nikita Kucherov, Jaromir Jagr, and Erik Karlsson. As you can see, I prefer the authentic game pucks as opposed to the logo pucks which the Cheevers is signed on.
Lastly are a couple of little stadium replicas sitting on my mini fridge. The nearest is Wrigley Field and the distant one is a Qualcomm Stadium replica.
Also pictured are my Wrigley Field baseball and my hockey play neon bar light. I have been keeping an eye on adding an Anfield replica for my favorite Premier League side, Liverpool.
Thanks for reading this post. It was long but covers all four major sports. I am expecting to be adding a couple more "Going Prospecting" and "Through the Mail" posts here shortly, so please keep checking back.
