Tour Time Part 3
Part three of this installment has some pretty awesome items in it. The first part I want to show will be a wall with six photos and a Larry Bird signed lithograph.
Both of these photos were received in person at celebrity golf tournaments held down here in San Diego county. Drew Brees used to host the celebrity tournament, and he signed this photo for me one of those years. He also signed a Chargers card for me some years before that when he was still a young kid. A cool story I have about that is at the time, the local radio station had a host who kept calling Brees 'The Nine Million Dollar Man'. While I walked with Drew for a couple of minutes we actually discussed this since that same radio host was simultaneously doing his show while broadcasting from the same course the tournament was at. I asked Drew, what do you think about that guy and he told me that he couldn't stand him because his shtick was fucking annoying. This was before Drew Brees was the huge star he has become.
This wall consists of acquisitions done in person, through the mail, and ordered via private signings.
The Terrell Davis was at the same golf tournament, just in a much later year. Terrell was cool with the fans that day (there were only about 20 autograph seekers there) but he kept telling people he'd only sign one item. He thought he had signed for me earlier in the day but I told him I hadn't gotten anything yet so he said fine and took a mental picture. For a recap of that event, click HERE.
On the left is an Al Kaline signed photo I received through the mail. He signed on the left for me as requested because I still plan on sending this photo in to a Bob Gibson event to get him to sign over himself as well. On the right is a Vince Carter signed photo I ordered from a private signing hosted by AJ Sports World up in Canada. Those guys host a LOT of awesome NHL signings so I recommend them highly.
Up top is a Chris Mullin HOF inscribed photo I got in person at a 2012 Tristar show up in San Francisco. To this day that remains ones of the biggest smorgasbord of autographs I've gotten at one time. It was one of the first posts I had on this blog and I highly recommend that read. Recap that success by clicking around the old stuff and finding it. The Joe Montana photo was another item ordered through a signing a couple of years ago.
Lastly, here is the most recent project I've been on, and in this case you will find many of my most recent adds. Second row from the bottom and second card on the right is the Drew Brees card I mentioned earlier. As I start adding bigger and bigger names many of these will be cycled out, and I'll likely end up getting a second case to display more. What I have found about cards recently is that they are very easy to display and take up so little space. They don't have the value that other items might have but I was never in this hobby to make money in the first place.
