That includes both retail product as well as hobby products. I feel like the companies are mass producing cards at such a high rate that it lowers the odds for the hits you want to get. Also, I just don't think I'll ever pull a card as good as the David Beckham cracked ice auto I pulled a couple years ago. That being said, I hadn't purchased anything in just under two months when I came across some Premier League Prizm at a local Barnes and Noble. I bought two blasters, and was excited to hit this legend auto.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUz5jKjIDeqJmr0yP90Hl8w-iV9nxPGhFSQ6sg8A3aZzeUhOssc0CvPrCdIZKmB-dkDzG6dR4vNJlq8y8wON-sJueagtk7DFAY9qHIf-qadAukn9-MxgN9d8eb4-Um1KMaAQsnVgy4wXxc50Ynb0q1O7_0a0THc807XgGYLsPp3HWhY4MJ4AZxwxJXUsU/s4032/20240304_100107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUz5jKjIDeqJmr0yP90Hl8w-iV9nxPGhFSQ6sg8A3aZzeUhOssc0CvPrCdIZKmB-dkDzG6dR4vNJlq8y8wON-sJueagtk7DFAY9qHIf-qadAukn9-MxgN9d8eb4-Um1KMaAQsnVgy4wXxc50Ynb0q1O7_0a0THc807XgGYLsPp3HWhY4MJ4AZxwxJXUsU/w312-h640/20240304_100107.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Yaya Toure was a beast for Manchester City back in the day. I believe that autos only are two per case in Premier League blasters so it's only a 1 out of 10 chance of pulling an auto. When you consider how big a star Toure was when he played, this autograph is an even better pull. It is an early contender to make the 2024 best auto pulls I post at the end of the year. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-39215662173414126902024-03-13T13:31:00.000-07:002024-03-13T13:31:24.703-07:00Anze Kopitar<p> With the amount of cards I've had coming in from private signings and through the mail requests recently, I've not had the time to post about another addition to my personal collection for my favorite team. My all time favorite Los Angeles Kings player is Anze Kopitar, and I am stoked that I was able to add this game used mem patch auto for so cheap that it's ridiculous. I know hockey autographs don't have the same value as other sports but adding a card that looks like this for under $40 for a future Hall of Famer to me was a no brainer.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOKB9XrSLr5grKcpc6e8b3wmwTY6AXLnwOUNxn8Lr6RTOzlUH1f7D8hGzpqs0icXl24syECtKcuwTp6Dbgj8IYVn-IaRgC0FMCbw5qw1jb3xMdbfSQvnNXo2ep_dbY6xLSGS4Ah-3XvABIZHrEmSHpe_zTZ0ADDYEnI42_rRRejXIXxHO4V41J8xEH-gw/s4032/20240130_134607.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOKB9XrSLr5grKcpc6e8b3wmwTY6AXLnwOUNxn8Lr6RTOzlUH1f7D8hGzpqs0icXl24syECtKcuwTp6Dbgj8IYVn-IaRgC0FMCbw5qw1jb3xMdbfSQvnNXo2ep_dbY6xLSGS4Ah-3XvABIZHrEmSHpe_zTZ0ADDYEnI42_rRRejXIXxHO4V41J8xEH-gw/w312-h640/20240130_134607.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>To me, this just a really beautiful card. I know Raines is considered one of the borderline Hall of Famers, but he is in Cooperstown for a reason and if a player is in Cooperstown, I want to add them to my collection. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-55461969148748781372024-03-09T16:35:00.000-08:002024-03-09T16:35:18.633-08:00Through the Mail-Goose Gossage<p> You've probably been noticing a trend with many of the recent baseball autographs that I have been posting about, but if not, here's a hint. I really like the look of the 1987 Topps set. It's the first set I really remember seeing as a kid, and I think autographs on these cards look clean. I've been recently resending some requests to athletes I've had successes with in the past, like Wade Boggs and Ryne Sandberg. I did it again for this success, this time from former Major Leaguer and Hall of Fame closer Rich "Goose" Gossage.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi95KXwK7TgcKOL1mEm54SeBqyvJqAvD_7h1sv8-4RfKHDZMzWH46TOMKjRmFvUZw9WFiOzyE5m87h_dDvHOVa8kBu8rW56jGkJ2ny3YiEFa8hOnMM0M3GXSHxenkiEGNdbv9Q7wHo7SWkxvPekSBB8e3Vs9jW5M3ahgcr2z1yh_muvrZFEEdHidTd1FEU/s4032/20240308_125305.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi95KXwK7TgcKOL1mEm54SeBqyvJqAvD_7h1sv8-4RfKHDZMzWH46TOMKjRmFvUZw9WFiOzyE5m87h_dDvHOVa8kBu8rW56jGkJ2ny3YiEFa8hOnMM0M3GXSHxenkiEGNdbv9Q7wHo7SWkxvPekSBB8e3Vs9jW5M3ahgcr2z1yh_muvrZFEEdHidTd1FEU/w312-h640/20240308_125305.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Goose is a through the mail go to for many of the autograph collectors as he consistently returns your requests with a high probability of success. You just always have to remember with these guys that most have a fee, and if you pay it and do the request correctly, you'll get your card signed and sent back most of the time.<br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-87404232906739263112024-03-08T13:24:00.000-08:002024-03-08T13:24:10.308-08:00Through the Mail-Ryne Sandberg<p> I've mentioned a few times on this blog now that I really like the look of the 1987 Topps set, so I've been trying to get as many autographs from Hall of Famers that were active during this set as possible. One more player that recently returned a request to me was Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, who I've gotten through the mail requests back from multiple times now. This return only took eleven days, as Ryne is not only a MLB Hall of Famer but a through the mail Hall of Famer as well. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsq90dE7-4AO1ybnQLgdcfdbR1Lkc37tq21JfkKDxOG5mjcIKgIFbNmq4OXGCwN2uxiFM6YFT7QPJsrUI7RwG2VMucIenukWbIe9YLUo9eDOBZsM_g-ChbAzvc9CAGnbjHoKIBMRkMHRSVaItbV8or7c1qpGFhGEKmy6-VEOWElExavH0DMhjYeK3Zd5I/s4032/20240217_151031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsq90dE7-4AO1ybnQLgdcfdbR1Lkc37tq21JfkKDxOG5mjcIKgIFbNmq4OXGCwN2uxiFM6YFT7QPJsrUI7RwG2VMucIenukWbIe9YLUo9eDOBZsM_g-ChbAzvc9CAGnbjHoKIBMRkMHRSVaItbV8or7c1qpGFhGEKmy6-VEOWElExavH0DMhjYeK3Zd5I/w312-h640/20240217_151031.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>For some reason I just really like the way this set turns out with autographs. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-58457574188363324702024-03-08T13:18:00.000-08:002024-03-08T13:18:03.454-08:00Through the Mail-Rebecca Lobo<p> I've been accumulating autographs at a decent clip lately, so I'm trying to catch up on some of my recent additions. When I was 14 and the WNBA was starting up, one of the biggest starts at that time was UConn great Rebecca Lobo. She was one of the small handful of players I knew during the WNBA's inaugural season, and she catapulted her success in college, the pros, and for team USA into a deserved spot in the basketball Hall of Fame. I got this return on a rookie card back a couple weeks ago after about a month wait. She is the second WNBA star I've gotten after the Katie Smith which I've already posted.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7bfEYS9Hb-7_CJDh5_FUk3S2yaiDFVkCTYnBpAje57GPyp58mHm6aj5AUs1gUjuNlYkx1MZTvSUqG5-HS5T35f4xzQXkXbeDYWhWfrzbYcXKcvp5iKQfXtF961ii66dnjGPNhHo3lI8qbrhaPpT0peNV2wtNiRywSosD8q_sNOI6tcVwpvI3O5D_62Rw/s4032/20240222_114441.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7bfEYS9Hb-7_CJDh5_FUk3S2yaiDFVkCTYnBpAje57GPyp58mHm6aj5AUs1gUjuNlYkx1MZTvSUqG5-HS5T35f4xzQXkXbeDYWhWfrzbYcXKcvp5iKQfXtF961ii66dnjGPNhHo3lI8qbrhaPpT0peNV2wtNiRywSosD8q_sNOI6tcVwpvI3O5D_62Rw/w312-h640/20240222_114441.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-76126561050643569182024-03-05T10:35:00.000-08:002024-03-05T10:35:47.133-08:00Through the Mail-Will Shields<p> The first card I sent to Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame lineman never came back to me, so I waited about six months and then tried again. This is a solid success and I'm just going to assume my first request got lost in the mail somewhere along the way there or back.<br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-56448171697744877392024-02-29T10:37:00.000-08:002024-02-29T10:37:22.024-08:00Wayne Gretzky<p>Many moons ago, when I was around eleven or twelve years old, I sent a card into the best player in NHL history, Wayne Gretzky, to see if I could get his autograph through the mail. It was the very first time I had ever attempted a through the mail autograph, so imagine my surprise when my 1993/94 Upper Deck card came back signed! It automatically became the biggest autograph in my collection. Keep in mind I'm a Los Angeles Kings fan so this particular card meant even more to me. </p><p>Fast forward 25 years and I find out through being in and around the autograph hobby that Gretzky was notorious for using what is called an autopen during the time in which I received my card. That clearly set alarm bells ringing and sure enough, when I did some research on mine, the card I had for all those years was autopen. Autopen is a machine that will sign the person's autograph, so it really is their autograph, just not signed by them personally. Not ideal!</p><p>I tried getting his autograph through the mail again a few years ago when people were having success from him randomly, but my mail never came back. All of this is to say that Gretzky is someone I have wanted in my collection for a long, long time. Finally, I decided it was just time to go the purchasing rout as his autographs aren't getting any cheaper. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFoKaiFdZQNRdxwXqw_XxpQlN3akGjipviFpY9bT5z3RAhhhyoGqekDrqIpzP1ekAed2SdRTFfBqA-mp8OCxCwHC3n5FI_lDl8NUFRmpMfTDn1KgPF_nvbFDxtx9QHR5arce_ruWtPGunw-2CVhPMfuYlYvalZgt99gsoM1UfL616pDUe2UJgV7t-tlww/s4032/20240220_191136.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFoKaiFdZQNRdxwXqw_XxpQlN3akGjipviFpY9bT5z3RAhhhyoGqekDrqIpzP1ekAed2SdRTFfBqA-mp8OCxCwHC3n5FI_lDl8NUFRmpMfTDn1KgPF_nvbFDxtx9QHR5arce_ruWtPGunw-2CVhPMfuYlYvalZgt99gsoM1UfL616pDUe2UJgV7t-tlww/w312-h640/20240220_191136.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGxBNF-WOauy0cEs-FAVHLPH8fEGP61p3sKjsHobgK4PLFSADYKUn2re6o0c6nriahEAJNiEMBQLHdYYuHfj1GnDJEPefWGxWbaQ88gg-EUSAnJdbqKO9U3t-KNCtIoFHvFPitqixUajhQllnvpiqeObE2z9W9skx6B1IjZyI0o7Ow1Y8IVSzj5Of-jm0/s4032/20240220_191225.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1960" data-original-width="4032" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGxBNF-WOauy0cEs-FAVHLPH8fEGP61p3sKjsHobgK4PLFSADYKUn2re6o0c6nriahEAJNiEMBQLHdYYuHfj1GnDJEPefWGxWbaQ88gg-EUSAnJdbqKO9U3t-KNCtIoFHvFPitqixUajhQllnvpiqeObE2z9W9skx6B1IjZyI0o7Ow1Y8IVSzj5Of-jm0/w640-h312/20240220_191225.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEKtN690P6cfLeLbW_ZQfuiMJcS_HtHj-6LVXMNsS0Y1VhFUjA5YTcOfpVUrsyqrcW_cdWaTz2D8oPRsoSTs2fpuUJmRzUMWMiuFYJstuQbt7JzVmG05tJ5fVGOIRmvRYGRh3TlS-t8JHTsYVjh-s0PXGCvnVhZNUOOiTxcdKID_5fpsQ43vTSr2LqVP0/s4032/20240220_191651.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEKtN690P6cfLeLbW_ZQfuiMJcS_HtHj-6LVXMNsS0Y1VhFUjA5YTcOfpVUrsyqrcW_cdWaTz2D8oPRsoSTs2fpuUJmRzUMWMiuFYJstuQbt7JzVmG05tJ5fVGOIRmvRYGRh3TlS-t8JHTsYVjh-s0PXGCvnVhZNUOOiTxcdKID_5fpsQ43vTSr2LqVP0/w312-h640/20240220_191651.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>This is a 2022-23 Upper Deck Stature hockey on card blue ink autograph numbered 13/25. She returned it having signed the card in silver so this autograph really pops. In person, it looks even better. Since the card was of the chrome variety, I prepped it with a white eraser before sending, which helped remove the glossy part that tends to make the autograph itself bleed. <div><br /></div><div>Overall, this is a really cool success. <br /><p><br /></p></div>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-50375619122303076992024-02-14T10:09:00.000-08:002024-02-14T10:09:15.902-08:00Through the Mail-Katie Smith<p> The extent of my through the mail request history is such that I've begun to hit a wall in terms of the Hall of Famers that sign through the mail that I have not sent a request to yet. Recently, I saw a newer name on the success list on the site that I used and it was former Minnesota Lynx player and WNBA all time great Katie Smith. She has been inducted in the basketball Hall of Fame since 2018 and is considered one of the greatest players in WNBA history.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXB-bWtek2MJxaE9ioJwW3oFo2kmSglcxzpXuUp63X6UdF8jvx1yaPaYB5tD8BBP8qdTWmWtaInUvxWumEBqX-TxYgyWbM16Sta8Z8eWU-Mtpab_XvXBS9fNToU2mFIwL8zbihrcZXMgnh8Ki09ebNI-Vs2d4NcjPWAVVJl19zR2vWaGkxYBE_yD467jc/s4032/20240213_100839.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXB-bWtek2MJxaE9ioJwW3oFo2kmSglcxzpXuUp63X6UdF8jvx1yaPaYB5tD8BBP8qdTWmWtaInUvxWumEBqX-TxYgyWbM16Sta8Z8eWU-Mtpab_XvXBS9fNToU2mFIwL8zbihrcZXMgnh8Ki09ebNI-Vs2d4NcjPWAVVJl19zR2vWaGkxYBE_yD467jc/w312-h640/20240213_100839.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>As you can see, I sent a rookie card from the 1999 Skybox Hoops WNBA set.<br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-32807138018177734812024-02-06T12:55:00.000-08:002024-02-06T12:55:52.930-08:00Through the Mail-Dick Vitale<p> I got this through the mail request back from basketball Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Vitale. Unfortunately it got a bit of a smudge on the HOF inscription but it's still a solid return from someone famous for his catch phrase. I have a few more requests currently pending, so I'm hoping to have more to share here over the next few weeks.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1qpVml96n8iiN5CeeEtr2AEkPKuBZeMCAzN14A-L8OkajnhfyUuOe2xN-3KZqB3FnNi06A-aREb2g8T_wW5EIPhGN6aakzbW7HR0NOpWM6o0qEhg-_BQk5119_JQwcMKS-4xNRMzFNWoaCUVmUsyvz_UGkve6fmanqBhc5zBPob74VXnEIjLGS1YlALw/s4032/20240206_073719.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1qpVml96n8iiN5CeeEtr2AEkPKuBZeMCAzN14A-L8OkajnhfyUuOe2xN-3KZqB3FnNi06A-aREb2g8T_wW5EIPhGN6aakzbW7HR0NOpWM6o0qEhg-_BQk5119_JQwcMKS-4xNRMzFNWoaCUVmUsyvz_UGkve6fmanqBhc5zBPob74VXnEIjLGS1YlALw/w312-h640/20240206_073719.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><p></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-3682478129966811542024-01-23T19:47:00.000-08:002024-01-23T19:47:50.994-08:00MLB Hall of Fame Class 2024<p> Anyone following along with this blog knows by now that the primary focus to my collection is obtaining Hall of Fame autographs from Hall of Famers in any sport. I have so many of them already, and the announcement of today's MLB inductees was a welcome sight, as I've already gotten autographs of the three players elected. They are Adrian Beltre, Todd Helton, and Joe Mauer.</p><p><br /></p><p>I actually obtained Beltre's autograph in person after a game at Petco Park years and years ago. He signed a ball for me on the sweet spot. I did not realize at the time that Beltre would turn into one of the all-time best third basemen. He struggled for a bit while on the Dodgers and there was no notion then of what he would turn into, particularly when this was obtained circa 2004 or 2005.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMwD8ZRPEnteNPgujhdSmHNNCMeXTCi93NiKHY5zoc84YVC7d6aOvJg6bJLGlLruBmlR-HAnZ7qGGXcncWi8eNfCtydSeZli8RM_C4xhXGgj8NbBj1TAIPZDxn44565gVZz47dp4mkq-wZOJ4BQ4hTfWoBvuJpe9LsPtiCRz33DjkR2r41TXJZA-VT2gk/s2048/IMAG0784.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1155" data-original-width="2048" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMwD8ZRPEnteNPgujhdSmHNNCMeXTCi93NiKHY5zoc84YVC7d6aOvJg6bJLGlLruBmlR-HAnZ7qGGXcncWi8eNfCtydSeZli8RM_C4xhXGgj8NbBj1TAIPZDxn44565gVZz47dp4mkq-wZOJ4BQ4hTfWoBvuJpe9LsPtiCRz33DjkR2r41TXJZA-VT2gk/w640-h360/IMAG0784.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>Todd Helton was another autograph I got in person, only this time it was inside the ballpark at Petco Park and while his team was taking batting practice. He was a bit of a curmudgeon so getting him to sign anything at the time was no easy task. He signed a ball for me, but on the side panel. Within the past couple of years, I also got a card signed by him, assuming he'd someday reach Cooperstown. I can't find a photo of the ball and I don't feel like digging through my box.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Lz3TnPtXHfGE39j9Kimv7WrFCzilBp15F2jGDeLitHKroQxTuKmZRXodUutXfDGZNxa7YQj1SSjlRANzSD8jNV8wVUDp-XwVbTei5qMli6JsKTsMmAl_bttDV-CkF_GEstFh73llEc6xnDkgZmrRZMVQc6qKupGUXemtF-NyplM6fVuHtG40MCf5-6I/s2543/helton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2543" data-original-width="1236" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Lz3TnPtXHfGE39j9Kimv7WrFCzilBp15F2jGDeLitHKroQxTuKmZRXodUutXfDGZNxa7YQj1SSjlRANzSD8jNV8wVUDp-XwVbTei5qMli6JsKTsMmAl_bttDV-CkF_GEstFh73llEc6xnDkgZmrRZMVQc6qKupGUXemtF-NyplM6fVuHtG40MCf5-6I/w312-h640/helton.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Lastly, I've recently added two Joe Mauer autographed cards, one in which I got off eBay and the other from a private signing in which the guy running it sent me a replacement card for the one that was "lost". I'm disappointed that it happened because the card I originally sent was a parallel rookie card that I spent some money on to acquire. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUWjaWNbX4jENe-wxAxe4CAeKCBZ0n4Fo0OrDMWE8mF9wu6wsIwma5j86uX8GcoqnSXvsrd013NVKKfzvJwB5LxC8fTk_fLqctcWObv2l7YNNgpBGQvRlrNPGIyEPUJSmb1i9rCKNZpRrVLzRH1LpdLCxs7qsmssHHi1iU0wgpijFQps2bd3NRJy_F_e8/s4032/20200910_173240.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUWjaWNbX4jENe-wxAxe4CAeKCBZ0n4Fo0OrDMWE8mF9wu6wsIwma5j86uX8GcoqnSXvsrd013NVKKfzvJwB5LxC8fTk_fLqctcWObv2l7YNNgpBGQvRlrNPGIyEPUJSmb1i9rCKNZpRrVLzRH1LpdLCxs7qsmssHHi1iU0wgpijFQps2bd3NRJy_F_e8/w312-h640/20200910_173240.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj9_so7f0TuIIOJ8wFPgJEj9XiE_NQEtZnanDZh2Loo54RUj1FMXrcKnnBmLpQhqMFfuk0Aq7uESoNlnVLhyxiv60rz48Y6jAJFYzCqeFaMnOUfgCqPGOzrHGwCPKwzVHbd_AolV_CkOEyWAP_2gIW-dD3llyPtAwM-T8HZ3ytd7XE-ZaIRMiqOfC3aZ0/s4032/20230320_103026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj9_so7f0TuIIOJ8wFPgJEj9XiE_NQEtZnanDZh2Loo54RUj1FMXrcKnnBmLpQhqMFfuk0Aq7uESoNlnVLhyxiv60rz48Y6jAJFYzCqeFaMnOUfgCqPGOzrHGwCPKwzVHbd_AolV_CkOEyWAP_2gIW-dD3llyPtAwM-T8HZ3ytd7XE-ZaIRMiqOfC3aZ0/w312-h640/20230320_103026.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Congrats to all the new members of Cooperstown. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-21131040553170578592024-01-12T12:09:00.000-08:002024-01-12T12:09:37.245-08:00More Autograph Pulls<p> 2024 has been off to a flying start with the consistency of the autographs I've been pulling from sealed sports card products. I have not been pulling a bunch of huge names, but none of them have been bad autographs to get either. </p><p>I did try my luck with the newly released Panini Prizm football mega boxes. I ordered three off of Target and one of the three boxes contained this hit.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdfmq2KX3hslBTPx7XzZaLW-GdF3Vu59aPkFWkUW-PiROuueqTTm17SjhX-HzhY9_MSWL1jvF12WuVvaF4f_9Jys9LTplsgmJZySJzGHMYl8Y4vXibyWJ5x98as4DaGCXNLni5PFuwpYV0g6RWOItbezEXARgjogGwEWhdO4zPD2jVAWZoJrrQHy7qI_k/s4032/20240112_110640.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdfmq2KX3hslBTPx7XzZaLW-GdF3Vu59aPkFWkUW-PiROuueqTTm17SjhX-HzhY9_MSWL1jvF12WuVvaF4f_9Jys9LTplsgmJZySJzGHMYl8Y4vXibyWJ5x98as4DaGCXNLni5PFuwpYV0g6RWOItbezEXARgjogGwEWhdO4zPD2jVAWZoJrrQHy7qI_k/w312-h640/20240112_110640.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>This is Titans rookie running back Tyjae Spears on the pink parallel version of the Prizm autographs.<div><br /></div><div>I also hit another running back in a Prestige box I opened randomly the other day.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWKXf09rEjgKkZG3aFmChceCpzMr9w_VZohUotm4E5PJHwR4dr6NCEdlmkGZqNPNffJF23E8S3vmjV_ZikMBeLgz-F6LMNewaSz55DPK2r-gY6dpgIJYq0TPgHtz-GfmRmr6LHlV8ucIBc92AA173Agr0vT6uNdIyTB0iYN56QArOE745ifE0jZcc4Ucc/s4032/20240109_175808.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWKXf09rEjgKkZG3aFmChceCpzMr9w_VZohUotm4E5PJHwR4dr6NCEdlmkGZqNPNffJF23E8S3vmjV_ZikMBeLgz-F6LMNewaSz55DPK2r-gY6dpgIJYq0TPgHtz-GfmRmr6LHlV8ucIBc92AA173Agr0vT6uNdIyTB0iYN56QArOE745ifE0jZcc4Ucc/w312-h640/20240109_175808.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Baltimore Ravens former Pro Bowl running back Jamal Lewis was another solid hit. It's not a highly priced autograph but Lewis was a good player and had a good career. He was the 2003 player of the year, a member of the all 2000's team, and has over 10,000 career rushing yards. I was given a mega box of some 2023 NFL Panini Prestige, and hit a pretty rare autograph. I had opened a handful of these boxes over the last couple of months and gotten skunked, so it was nice to find an on card NFL Passport Signatures card of Miami Dolphins rookie running back Devon Achane. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiCtY34HwkRMGkwmLHkPnMlbY9zlHKkcRACN92e2XayV7prrDWX29ZybYeXLIuF-7z_8W6XDljTjDDAVOfQHErqMaQmden6HHY-sz95QRzGEkVBBvNsf7as8riHAm8wf9gLzViHmIrZ7LPlO7Ziw9ohUj5mj21kupTgke_vJhN-5_PTkSNP2vVdF_nc4o/s4032/20240105_115019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiCtY34HwkRMGkwmLHkPnMlbY9zlHKkcRACN92e2XayV7prrDWX29ZybYeXLIuF-7z_8W6XDljTjDDAVOfQHErqMaQmden6HHY-sz95QRzGEkVBBvNsf7as8riHAm8wf9gLzViHmIrZ7LPlO7Ziw9ohUj5mj21kupTgke_vJhN-5_PTkSNP2vVdF_nc4o/w312-h640/20240105_115019.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>I had seen that many other people were pulling some pretty big autographs out of this product so I was happy to get this. It's the same product I had a lot of success with in 2022 when I pulled five autographs out of only like eight boxes, including two autographs in one box.<div><br /></div><div>I live in northern San Diego County, and we don't have a lot of local card shops, nor do we have much in the way of collectibles stores. A few months ago, a collectible exchange similar to the one you'd see at Frank and Son's in LA was opened and while perusing the sports card vendors, I found an H2 Panini Prizm Breakaway box of English Premier League soccer. I've opened a couple of these in the past and enjoy the product. This time, I pulled an autograph of one of the better forwards in the EPL, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins. </div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3F746dGg2VlrVFGhG3reA0aipjLKjUhE0P2S-Au4EXBgvprsguGuYmG5SYe-fRxQXgX3y3d7xYec-kCx7wUyhW9z7XDxfuCNbrQlWOpw2XD59aKFwwBbjYSFlE7p8oppJiYr1kCXe3iWpWjOnYQFSzfB5sk7RTJf8RbRG_JwSMnfG4Bh63tfqB2Gqhco/s4032/20240106_140953.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3F746dGg2VlrVFGhG3reA0aipjLKjUhE0P2S-Au4EXBgvprsguGuYmG5SYe-fRxQXgX3y3d7xYec-kCx7wUyhW9z7XDxfuCNbrQlWOpw2XD59aKFwwBbjYSFlE7p8oppJiYr1kCXe3iWpWjOnYQFSzfB5sk7RTJf8RbRG_JwSMnfG4Bh63tfqB2Gqhco/w312-h640/20240106_140953.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><div>Both of these pulls have the potential to end up in my top 10 pulls of 2024 list, so it has been a good start to 2024.</div><div><br /><p><br /></p></div>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-27893846779884310312024-01-06T11:28:00.000-08:002024-01-06T11:29:52.148-08:00Through the Mail-Wade Boggs<p> My second through the mail success of 2024 has arrived and it is another autograph I have obtained in the past, only this time in the form of another 1987 Topps.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMMlO63fsVvMXQx4JMRgSVPUvublEp_ehMjNu14P4sBYlKkS-dEdFGZbRPYqcKOWrPFf4ZmkVdvkKURwmUVsGgsxKW7gR6DyDhUxBd6z1NllT5ti1Wm2Q7cbuezxHqUNNSOmncn_GJbfNQgWzcLczXj-vKcJwy5Tuyz8TbGGbmxUgC5T6wT35wLl51jJE/s4032/20240103_153311.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMMlO63fsVvMXQx4JMRgSVPUvublEp_ehMjNu14P4sBYlKkS-dEdFGZbRPYqcKOWrPFf4ZmkVdvkKURwmUVsGgsxKW7gR6DyDhUxBd6z1NllT5ti1Wm2Q7cbuezxHqUNNSOmncn_GJbfNQgWzcLczXj-vKcJwy5Tuyz8TbGGbmxUgC5T6wT35wLl51jJE/w312-h640/20240103_153311.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>I've sent to Wade Boggs three times, and all three times have gotten my items returned very quickly for a nominal fee. This was actually the second card I have sent to Paul, the first being during the summer of 2020. I don't often send the same athlete multiple requests, and have never sent more than one item at a time. However, I've become really into the look of the 1987 Topps cards being signed, so I recently decided to send a couple more requests out to guys I've gotten returns from in the past with the intent on getting them on the 1987 set as well.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; For the first time, you'll notice every item on this list is a card because I have slowly transitioned to a heavier autographed card focus than I have ever previously had. Mostly, it comes down to the ease in which I can store these items without them taking too much space on my walls. Without further ado, here is my list;</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaoZhxcJVswBg1TdqVO99mUAyHJHAyu-gX0OGNxnZBsMvKJ6JgwmVp1SufmqXjqU5lOhXlj2yntU85eXaRNo5rN2w-uDhT62oOHRzMQYO4W_Ct6kXdPOt_yFDEFwwV3dTicyAm6VmKShtGmWp7RkhepCY-58O0x-Rwj3pNDlwb9Fjvt14oVRkeAZ_1adw/s626/image.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="417" data-original-width="626" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaoZhxcJVswBg1TdqVO99mUAyHJHAyu-gX0OGNxnZBsMvKJ6JgwmVp1SufmqXjqU5lOhXlj2yntU85eXaRNo5rN2w-uDhT62oOHRzMQYO4W_Ct6kXdPOt_yFDEFwwV3dTicyAm6VmKShtGmWp7RkhepCY-58O0x-Rwj3pNDlwb9Fjvt14oVRkeAZ_1adw/w640-h426/image.png" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>10. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/02/ebay-adds.html">LaDainian Tomlinson</a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRY0aE6F3bbdrsfEqIlvSv-q_lY3GOB-6BqcdQcBVIVyCB_pSRMhc8VS0QStzTg8K5pHfGLk8W5tu37yiPZKCOcv8NWR4jsmKPXdG6cFzcjka3KD_YvNd0RF7KXlK58rPGGW7F0NBR22LY83r7Edo0BKXeAnl0jILlbxt_tETzRBwguyCpfQquNAgSeAY/s4032/20230225_173248.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRY0aE6F3bbdrsfEqIlvSv-q_lY3GOB-6BqcdQcBVIVyCB_pSRMhc8VS0QStzTg8K5pHfGLk8W5tu37yiPZKCOcv8NWR4jsmKPXdG6cFzcjka3KD_YvNd0RF7KXlK58rPGGW7F0NBR22LY83r7Edo0BKXeAnl0jILlbxt_tETzRBwguyCpfQquNAgSeAY/w312-h640/20230225_173248.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>This one is pretty easy to explain. Tomlinson was a huge player during my peak Chargers fandom which has since waned a little since the move to LA. The card above is from arguably my favorite player of all time, from a coveted set (National Treasures), has a low number 14/49, is signed on card, and includes some game worn material. This makes the list.<div><br /></div><div>9. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/10/isiah-thomas-private-signing.html">Isaiah Thomas</a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcHb0LwVpgzO2HF9ROUfyIGuQq4D9rXLYM1q-5WFyWTuqUFW4v5H2xbdZccwu74xEjTZnG4r5d7fUdO4PikUKKabBr9hpFHcOQGgiwbrjhPWg6JbIIsSkpsFbylKmCl_Cmfl5qxuvqGOA4DFzzwuWUD7IvjUhqjNuS00Y8qPcHAAtv14MqskjhrAXKbn8/s4032/20231021_152826.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcHb0LwVpgzO2HF9ROUfyIGuQq4D9rXLYM1q-5WFyWTuqUFW4v5H2xbdZccwu74xEjTZnG4r5d7fUdO4PikUKKabBr9hpFHcOQGgiwbrjhPWg6JbIIsSkpsFbylKmCl_Cmfl5qxuvqGOA4DFzzwuWUD7IvjUhqjNuS00Y8qPcHAAtv14MqskjhrAXKbn8/w312-h640/20231021_152826.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>I like this card for two main reasons. One, it came via a private signing so I sent this card into the signing myself. Two, it is signed on the iconic 1986 Fleer basketball set, and was the impetus for me using the same set to send a card in for the Alex English signing as well. Frankly, I just like the look of it autographed. <div><br /></div><div>8. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/12/quinton-byfield.html">Quinton Byfield</a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdSN5OX8gJyx96a33yok88rQDDIV3dd19rH13DgSxd3TMTWyzKDFoGmYItsa-8jJ9HppUw5cPN_dCRC9FM0doNuJOnh1DO5mXQtBr1SuzI6XbJPj15h61VO2jUj1QFX2hoBDyU8hyEMavNpzrNzQApICS_I6tGXP7NiUOZ3xWXv7w5G1kCQO2K5-wxfN8/s4032/20231215_154936.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdSN5OX8gJyx96a33yok88rQDDIV3dd19rH13DgSxd3TMTWyzKDFoGmYItsa-8jJ9HppUw5cPN_dCRC9FM0doNuJOnh1DO5mXQtBr1SuzI6XbJPj15h61VO2jUj1QFX2hoBDyU8hyEMavNpzrNzQApICS_I6tGXP7NiUOZ3xWXv7w5G1kCQO2K5-wxfN8/w312-h640/20231215_154936.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>You already saw me extol the virtues of this card on a post I just put up today, so no need to rehash it in great detail. What Gerrard does have going for it over the Byfield auto is that he is one of the all time greats not only for Liverpool, but during the Premier League era. I had to get a Gerrard auto in my collection, and I did so in 2023. Also, as mentioned, I am a Liverpool supporter so this soccer auto gets into my list while two other greats, <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/10/three-soccer-legends.html">Luka Modric and Harry Kane</a>, did not. </div><div><br /></div><div>5. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/10/chipper-jones-private-signing.html">Chipper Jones</a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFSfjOgkU3ImYeNtL5A4nYjEyWgHqBadVoGUGPl7-qD-E9OyhWuo4nUAzpd4Hw7ByQaVPQoeE25l-pl0FcirgWqwMTCHhFcKiGxH3dMGj0s7zptQMqtWh5zCZK7vu6q9o6_58gRDLuzqY3v1Cnc93FAcX7LGm3mrUiwR25QwYP5GOQFNKM17bAgYpqDFw/s4032/20231010_180958.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFSfjOgkU3ImYeNtL5A4nYjEyWgHqBadVoGUGPl7-qD-E9OyhWuo4nUAzpd4Hw7ByQaVPQoeE25l-pl0FcirgWqwMTCHhFcKiGxH3dMGj0s7zptQMqtWh5zCZK7vu6q9o6_58gRDLuzqY3v1Cnc93FAcX7LGm3mrUiwR25QwYP5GOQFNKM17bAgYpqDFw/w312-h640/20231010_180958.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Another of the elite Major Leaguers during my years growing up, the reason Chipper Jones makes it so high on my list is because this is a rookie card I personally had of his for over thirty years before I sent it in to a private signing he was doing in 2023. It might be the oldest card from my personal collection that I ended up getting signed to date. For that and for the really clean autograph that came out, this card sneaks into my top five. <div><br /></div><div>4.<a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/11/dan-marino.html"> Dan Marino</a><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2C0iHTsNEzU-UyFFO14r_AUy45PnH341YT7mgW7XxQhe7xrhy1suKAx1NhC0u30cQ8TFpacHhFLvpAbAObrnbA9vohOflCfFnbr3rUpjtvXRrBRhbrVVJrJs6QFU5LcXhdlfQlU1K8ZLskb4KiD7_0tgKBPv-w1I9rXTQYm3LgvaeoCo0mcoNrRp8zXQ/s4032/20231121_122907.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2C0iHTsNEzU-UyFFO14r_AUy45PnH341YT7mgW7XxQhe7xrhy1suKAx1NhC0u30cQ8TFpacHhFLvpAbAObrnbA9vohOflCfFnbr3rUpjtvXRrBRhbrVVJrJs6QFU5LcXhdlfQlU1K8ZLskb4KiD7_0tgKBPv-w1I9rXTQYm3LgvaeoCo0mcoNrRp8zXQ/w312-h640/20231121_122907.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQ3PAHbDN_Zc8qf3Wz6_QSOfYKGnXbF2qZzvwyAaAJNF3hrPG4w8EXBgF5YrKZwIUNxzXWuxGh40USXKZH-ohYeuikQPy8q3ra9IsshCqVohVzxrTuaXPROCXWqyMe35fBEuv6jwuy48A1LBgdJLM0yur5TMfLgIGIQd_bsv5BVCZSbekA4pjtr8QPt8/s4032/20231121_122931.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAQ3PAHbDN_Zc8qf3Wz6_QSOfYKGnXbF2qZzvwyAaAJNF3hrPG4w8EXBgF5YrKZwIUNxzXWuxGh40USXKZH-ohYeuikQPy8q3ra9IsshCqVohVzxrTuaXPROCXWqyMe35fBEuv6jwuy48A1LBgdJLM0yur5TMfLgIGIQd_bsv5BVCZSbekA4pjtr8QPt8/w312-h640/20231121_122931.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>As the holidays started rolling around this year, I went on a bit of a run in terms of adding all time great NFL quarterbacks to my collection. Dan Marino was one of them, and he makes the list over a few of the others because the pure clean look this card has. It's a pretty close color match to the Dolphins colors, is numbered 1/75, and I have always really liked the cracked ice prizm look. The infamous David Beckham auto I pulled a couple years ago out of a pack is another great example of this look. It also helps that some of these names you can get on eBay (Marino, Kurt Warner, Joe Montana, John Elway) much cheaper than it would otherwise be to send into them for a signing. That is always something to watch for. Unless there is a specific card you want signed ( a rookie card perhaps), then often it's cheaper buying a card signed and put into products like Prizm. Also, I recommend going back through my recent blog posts and checking out all the huge name QBs on there.</div><div><br /></div><div>3. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/12/steve-young-private-signing.html">Steve Young</a><br /><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoMuXGfWpH2BIWSXabHtmz_TfGlZxMTBbKcZ7HUzXOg-I6aIrYLpw21bhm7drIH7q6eNaLB_qY4144mxjsyorZ_bCLBlXW_PkeNpzsdHwPW07yQQWtwg-7MKD4kZyG1iCQvghj2m1DmcLnbrJOIdpzS2tbHG_kSZ_rZ7iE8xJxFeDO-hkHyjGBO7gJm3o/s4032/20231212_105428.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoMuXGfWpH2BIWSXabHtmz_TfGlZxMTBbKcZ7HUzXOg-I6aIrYLpw21bhm7drIH7q6eNaLB_qY4144mxjsyorZ_bCLBlXW_PkeNpzsdHwPW07yQQWtwg-7MKD4kZyG1iCQvghj2m1DmcLnbrJOIdpzS2tbHG_kSZ_rZ7iE8xJxFeDO-hkHyjGBO7gJm3o/w312-h640/20231212_105428.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Maybe it's recency bias as I just got this card back in the mail from a signing a few weeks ago, but I really like this card. The reason he makes the list over the other Hall of Fame QBs just mentioned is that this is a rookie card and is an on card autograph, not a sticker and came back from a sit down signing. Also, many people forget Young started his career in Tampa Bay before making a big name for himself as a 49er. </div><div><br /></div><div>2. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/08/jaromir-jagr-private-signing.html">Jaromir Jagr</a></div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibV4UuOEdwLD75njxRglkzDNFzw0P7hH3p1k4TCmQe6rklM1D_m71FWjWt9-nj0RjZSlITxfRAqWb3JyjvcWZ8Rf0b3GOEQ6EBheOljZuoBDQSfwAPPiEr4QGMj1iPqlABGRqwnB9i-Vn6x7TTUZiIclah4lOxk4VZsMw3v6sD837rQdZYmwbfXTPj8fU/s4032/20230812_170238.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibV4UuOEdwLD75njxRglkzDNFzw0P7hH3p1k4TCmQe6rklM1D_m71FWjWt9-nj0RjZSlITxfRAqWb3JyjvcWZ8Rf0b3GOEQ6EBheOljZuoBDQSfwAPPiEr4QGMj1iPqlABGRqwnB9i-Vn6x7TTUZiIclah4lOxk4VZsMw3v6sD837rQdZYmwbfXTPj8fU/w312-h640/20230812_170238.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Being a hockey fan since 1988, there have been very few players I have seen in my time that combined the amount of skill with the level of consistency that Jaromir Jagr had. For anyone that played EA Sports NHL video games growing up, we all know how much of a beast this guy was to play with also. He's probably among the top ten to fifteen all time NHL greats, and this card sits so high on my list because it's a rookie draft pick card, came back from a sit down signing, and came out nicely. This 1990 Score set had some huge rookie cards, one of which I also got signed by Martin Brodeur. </div><div><br /></div><div>1. <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/2023/04/barry-sanders-private-signing.html">Barry Sanders</a><br /><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNV-FRmDsSUkr8ovkavc71vPSR_SO1tcUHzqvdx_N1JWBUEmQ7qKSaPAMyMRRscOPFNhlTQPsQhCwem7-EXQ74Fokg-JH-6gSQYrCS3Db8GYPfZyoQQ4b2QVqAc5bO4BkLtxDQEO6dU5LZ1tedRoljRiNMAb5AeYziOsFL_L4b0TRo-ho7YC7_LbSjHOw/s4032/20230403_223315.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNV-FRmDsSUkr8ovkavc71vPSR_SO1tcUHzqvdx_N1JWBUEmQ7qKSaPAMyMRRscOPFNhlTQPsQhCwem7-EXQ74Fokg-JH-6gSQYrCS3Db8GYPfZyoQQ4b2QVqAc5bO4BkLtxDQEO6dU5LZ1tedRoljRiNMAb5AeYziOsFL_L4b0TRo-ho7YC7_LbSjHOw/w312-h640/20230403_223315.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>There was no clear cut top add in 2023 like there had been in the past between Beckham, Messi, Mantle, Ted Williams, etc. That being said, I still think I made a strong choice in listing this Barry Sanders rookie card as my favorite add in 2023. This came back from a private signing as well, and there is just something about Sanders that I can't quite explain. He was so amazingly fun to watch. He was stupidly good in Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl. He retired so suddenly before breaking all the records that there is a mysterious aura about him that lingers to this day. There was a documentary down on him on Amazon just this year, which adds to the allure of the man. I had to jump at the opportunity to get a card signed, and of course it was always going to be a rookie card.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you to all who read my blog in 2023. One of the gifts I received was a 2022-23 Panini Prizm hobby box of Premier League soccer. These are extremely fun to open because you get a guaranteed autograph, many numbered cards, and you can hit some very cool case hits like color blasts. I pulled the requisite five numbered cards, including a couple cards with real low print runs (/15 and /25). The autograph I pulled, although not one of high monetary value, was a cool one for me because it ended up being a Liverpool player and I am a supporter of LFC. Nat Phillips, a Liverpool cult hero of sorts, and currently out on loan to Celtic, was the auto I hit.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw8LHkT2aZgOrtblmydWDxd8XgvpzyC9xdENHYqo-kcp-nWOX7nulaJordnpihttyv2VaYzmBgGBc4WApX1q1zk4e8QmV63H4rXdBIqxg2oKxy7uUxPe_X3MZAp6rgg5KZD4Z7R7dFOsVkI9ACZRBP05JIWcDiARJpWE-aTVePuGGnAhBByIOSO3VYk00/s4032/20231225_105923.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw8LHkT2aZgOrtblmydWDxd8XgvpzyC9xdENHYqo-kcp-nWOX7nulaJordnpihttyv2VaYzmBgGBc4WApX1q1zk4e8QmV63H4rXdBIqxg2oKxy7uUxPe_X3MZAp6rgg5KZD4Z7R7dFOsVkI9ACZRBP05JIWcDiARJpWE-aTVePuGGnAhBByIOSO3VYk00/w312-h640/20231225_105923.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>I took the photo on my mouse pad to give you an indication of what I mean when I say I'm a Liverpool supporter.<div><br /></div><div>Although not autograph related, and I realize this is predominantly an autograph blog, my wife also gave me one of the coolest gifts I have ever received. I had been wanting a replica Anfield (home stadium of Liverpool since 1892) for quite a few years. The problem is in the US, the company that makes the one I liked called Danbury Mint, didn't make them here but only in the UK. Not only did they only make them in the UK, but they did not make many of them and it was a long time ago that they did so. Needless to say, it took my wife a lot of work to get one here and when I found out she had, I was thrilled.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinvgqiMDYuL5XJ_dux6CBUackG6_qkKUX3BL_8A4qbpph8Z3dhnCk7r7q-M7wePt4v4SplRoviFmKZgfxfTnJpYRJuaAGBu_HYxi2FPARwJIGu8hZ2OdI770G0KWgpFXvpYZYn6stB78yRLA-PIMLdhOZxfQEADrcgiyxnCh7-L7A4XTcIyDBPPxpljpY/s4032/20231225_104842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1960" data-original-width="4032" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinvgqiMDYuL5XJ_dux6CBUackG6_qkKUX3BL_8A4qbpph8Z3dhnCk7r7q-M7wePt4v4SplRoviFmKZgfxfTnJpYRJuaAGBu_HYxi2FPARwJIGu8hZ2OdI770G0KWgpFXvpYZYn6stB78yRLA-PIMLdhOZxfQEADrcgiyxnCh7-L7A4XTcIyDBPPxpljpY/w640-h312/20231225_104842.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2xUPAUAcERAI-N-US5MhtlhxJQX7fk40EE77TqDBbueiO8Ev6aLRQ6_3JcV4cRHHUS3zekcTYESq2b0MnH53K4zgvQ8geHB9ir1fU8H8qdnMZJA9u9UlztHeTMJdEn1tGOahijbxKKtwTqShDUuKHzczbkvjBkpuOlCyJ7IEwRmnZN3aDNPidbJf__Es/s4032/20231225_105644.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1960" data-original-width="4032" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2xUPAUAcERAI-N-US5MhtlhxJQX7fk40EE77TqDBbueiO8Ev6aLRQ6_3JcV4cRHHUS3zekcTYESq2b0MnH53K4zgvQ8geHB9ir1fU8H8qdnMZJA9u9UlztHeTMJdEn1tGOahijbxKKtwTqShDUuKHzczbkvjBkpuOlCyJ7IEwRmnZN3aDNPidbJf__Es/w640-h312/20231225_105644.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGsVUZVRCHLgGSYGjEObIA7l6sXlrEcR68ru-02c-ocQ-a76L7x-xiVw6lihHZiLI0EdnhMZoaWRSyzXsZgFEjUmS_5USFBwn4Kb7EIQjMVrzdjROeaVN1ijIBbtZx-eFRAFpXvILZNW5kiDZmsQjOVh7ROL8EBiiG0E-5Ih24Jzwf2wUBr5IyOitFRKQ/s4032/20231225_105651.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1960" data-original-width="4032" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGsVUZVRCHLgGSYGjEObIA7l6sXlrEcR68ru-02c-ocQ-a76L7x-xiVw6lihHZiLI0EdnhMZoaWRSyzXsZgFEjUmS_5USFBwn4Kb7EIQjMVrzdjROeaVN1ijIBbtZx-eFRAFpXvILZNW5kiDZmsQjOVh7ROL8EBiiG0E-5Ih24Jzwf2wUBr5IyOitFRKQ/w640-h312/20231225_105651.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><p><br /></p></div>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-55417091033752610552023-12-31T10:06:00.000-08:002023-12-31T10:06:55.381-08:00Quinton Byfield<p> It is just a coincidence, albeit a cool one, that I close my 2023 year of collecting with a relatively big add from my favorite sports franchise, the Los Angeles Kings. I've mentioned it before but if you have not yet seen me say it, I am first and foremost a hockey fan and the team I have been watching like a die hard for 36 years is the Kings. After winning the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014, they went on a bit of a rebuild and accumulated a bunch of picks. The highest pick they ended up with during this time was the second overall pick in 2020. In the last season plus, this kid has really started to develop into a very good player and his ceiling remains quite high. I wanted to add a rookie auto of his to my personal collection (99.9% of the items I get end up in my personal collection) and was able to hone in on an Upper Deck rookie patch auto numbered 2/15.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdSN5OX8gJyx96a33yok88rQDDIV3dd19rH13DgSxd3TMTWyzKDFoGmYItsa-8jJ9HppUw5cPN_dCRC9FM0doNuJOnh1DO5mXQtBr1SuzI6XbJPj15h61VO2jUj1QFX2hoBDyU8hyEMavNpzrNzQApICS_I6tGXP7NiUOZ3xWXv7w5G1kCQO2K5-wxfN8/s4032/20231215_154936.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdSN5OX8gJyx96a33yok88rQDDIV3dd19rH13DgSxd3TMTWyzKDFoGmYItsa-8jJ9HppUw5cPN_dCRC9FM0doNuJOnh1DO5mXQtBr1SuzI6XbJPj15h61VO2jUj1QFX2hoBDyU8hyEMavNpzrNzQApICS_I6tGXP7NiUOZ3xWXv7w5G1kCQO2K5-wxfN8/w312-h640/20231215_154936.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>As you can see, this card was already graded, slabbed, and authenticated by Beckett. It wasn't a cheap card to obtain, but I think there is real potential that this card also continues to rise in value as Quinton continues to get better and better and makes a big name for himself in the NHL. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-82364866831661524422023-12-15T12:30:00.000-08:002023-12-15T12:30:58.065-08:00John Stockton<p> One of the notoriously tough autographs to get among all modern era sports figures, I saw recently that John Stockton was going to be doing an ultra rare signing. After looking at the prices, I decided that they were on the pricey side, so instead looked into getting a card off eBay. It is often the case that signings are more expensive than getting an auto card from Panini or Topps, etc. because you can send in exactly what you want to get signed. I don't typically complain about pricing for signings, but I did observe that the cost to send in my own card was 4-5x what buying a John Stockton signed card off eBay would cost. Therefore, I found a fairly priced one and went that direction. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXj9KnOq04RaUzXsTKOZzoUYM_YmXYp9Ftr9elhQS40YeL5ea6bBNV3Q3leLGgscAK6W02POIVNoPY4jHeehs8mVNPiAMvizmS-gRUMxcjFwMimewiKcvqPoZzJ2SVbvfWs_YcBECvw1FYd_ZOqwyK54vhhx0oKGXZefp47OzXxde9Tm03tt6XTp2Bupo/s4032/20231211_102724.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXj9KnOq04RaUzXsTKOZzoUYM_YmXYp9Ftr9elhQS40YeL5ea6bBNV3Q3leLGgscAK6W02POIVNoPY4jHeehs8mVNPiAMvizmS-gRUMxcjFwMimewiKcvqPoZzJ2SVbvfWs_YcBECvw1FYd_ZOqwyK54vhhx0oKGXZefp47OzXxde9Tm03tt6XTp2Bupo/w312-h640/20231211_102724.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>As you can see, I went with an Obsidian auto and this particular card is numbered /35. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-34228225004544343572023-12-13T10:41:00.000-08:002023-12-13T10:41:50.768-08:00Steve Young Private Signing<p> I've recently been on quite a roll with NFL Hall of Fame quarterbacks, and the return I got back in the mail from a signing I sent to added to that momentum. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmRR2jiaQJBEt2m_hOl68xeN7jH4IF1RppTyl9aH03kCarqb_WyGyzIelbi12TPM_flExsrEuvVjSxyZ0HayiJ58X8aIIx5Vk-r9xSLsIfzFFmQK8eFtEyrCRFp1T7HtTA6Z_kTuN2TNduGj-x-o1vDEn8LaLJr_VQbXcCJm5US2_2a16Bc6ajCPSA31Q/s4032/20231212_105428.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmRR2jiaQJBEt2m_hOl68xeN7jH4IF1RppTyl9aH03kCarqb_WyGyzIelbi12TPM_flExsrEuvVjSxyZ0HayiJ58X8aIIx5Vk-r9xSLsIfzFFmQK8eFtEyrCRFp1T7HtTA6Z_kTuN2TNduGj-x-o1vDEn8LaLJr_VQbXcCJm5US2_2a16Bc6ajCPSA31Q/w312-h640/20231212_105428.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>As you can see, this a Steve Young Topps rookie card from his time when he was on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The signature came out clean and I am really pleased with the result of this request. Consistent readers have probably noticed these requests are becoming fewer and farther between and the reasoning behind that is I send far fewer requests than in the past and some of those that I have sent recently haven't come back. I was under the impression this card was about to fall into the latter category because it took close to three months from me sending it to get it back. Reminder, check my through the mail tracker <a href="https://socalsignings.blogspot.com/p/through-mail-tracker.html">here</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwq2ryCBtIapqFWDdV8iYey3jPPgEwKWPTcaLgjNRnIrn8qbpsBd4OfcQsOgnGWWzFxGarpCgrM1Or1LCBsEQLOnLF_UL2zPqyVqHfYXLWQbPar-BTWsgx8k7OxJZDQpK14jQa8jU1RDeFkNnKmo5oPtqU49xXHNGz0M6UfoOsIYXY_IUSFlTAYvM1Ixo/s4032/20231208_155007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwq2ryCBtIapqFWDdV8iYey3jPPgEwKWPTcaLgjNRnIrn8qbpsBd4OfcQsOgnGWWzFxGarpCgrM1Or1LCBsEQLOnLF_UL2zPqyVqHfYXLWQbPar-BTWsgx8k7OxJZDQpK14jQa8jU1RDeFkNnKmo5oPtqU49xXHNGz0M6UfoOsIYXY_IUSFlTAYvM1Ixo/w312-h640/20231208_155007.jpg" width="312" /></a></div>Rod Langway was known as one of, if the not the best shutdown defenders of his era and is a hockey Hall of Famer that spent most of his career with the Washintgon Capitals. This card was clearly signed with a thicker, drying sharpie or marker but that's okay. I'm always happy to get Hall of Famers added to the collection, even if the signature itself isn't the prettiest. <br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5735102798527524459.post-75342542941959360992023-12-07T10:50:00.000-08:002023-12-07T10:50:49.982-08:00Sealed Product Autos<p> I haven't been able to catch up on a few of the autographs I've recently pulled from sealed product, dating back quite a few months. This card comes from 2023 Prestige football, is numbered /25. I saw that a lot of people were having a lot of luck with their hits in Prestige megas in retail, though the few boxes I opened were crap. I jumped into the eBay market to get this card, as card prices have come down and you can get some of these all time greats for much less than even a year ago. Honestly, I bought this card for the price of two mega boxes, so I'm not sure what I'm even doing buying sealed product in the first place.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRSGfoPVXqKJjzxOD1ksYp9W8H4yqN5ngKWBe7sRwvCF6Dw1WqOdoZdVQBS-nUdXzVEZDUdylZLd2VvkV9OHoQtPT6z7DvJ8AHFAzkH3FFIQvn_3Mb1MJQZxk_FtUHz0X1oDAbZxNsRIypbFkzZ-FC-8ZIedKtRN6n0c7ptRQC-fCHhI0bSsNS6AjCe3M/s4032/20231201_093419.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="1960" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRSGfoPVXqKJjzxOD1ksYp9W8H4yqN5ngKWBe7sRwvCF6Dw1WqOdoZdVQBS-nUdXzVEZDUdylZLd2VvkV9OHoQtPT6z7DvJ8AHFAzkH3FFIQvn_3Mb1MJQZxk_FtUHz0X1oDAbZxNsRIypbFkzZ-FC-8ZIedKtRN6n0c7ptRQC-fCHhI0bSsNS6AjCe3M/w312-h640/20231201_093419.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Klonghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10780638645315890473noreply@blogger.com0
