Lots to catch up on here, as I've opened some recent releases in the form of Panini Select La Liga (one hobby and two blasters) as well as Select FIFA (two blasters). Starting with the La Liga hobby, you are guaranteed 3 autograph or memorabilia cards per box. I've opened Select hobby boxes in the last and had decent returns, in particular with Serie A. This time, the biggest hit of the three ended up being the mem card which is never a great sign, although the patch itself was pretty legit and it was a low numbered rookie of one of the chase rookies, Marc Bernal.
The Bernal rookie mem auto looks like a part of his jersey number which is cool and is numbered to /25. That was easily the hit of the box and I knew it meant my autos would likely be relative duds from a value standpoint. They were. The two autos were Javi Puado and a rookie from Barcelona Sergi Dominguez. I probably made my money back with the box overall as I got a case hit, solid numbered cards (seven overall), plus the aforementioned Bernal rookie mem but to be honest, since I'm first and foremost an autograph guy, it was hard not to be a tad disappointed by the box overall. The auto checklist for La Liga Select is absolutely stacked and I got arguably two of the worst ones you can probably pull. It's part of the game with opening sealed product though!
On the other hand, I did pull a non guaranteed blue pulsar auto from one of the two blasters. Hitting autos from Select retail is always hard so even though Borja Iglesias isn't a big name, it's cool to pull any autograph. Also, the blue pulsar in person really pops.
Finally, I did purchase three more Bowman baseball blasters and one mega. I can't help it, I love Bowman. These four boxes were actually stacked, helping to reverse a little of the downward momentum I'd had with 2025 Bowman up to this point.
The PJ Morlando 1st Bowman /25 is the lowest numbered Bowman I've ever pulled. He's also a first round pick so fingers crossed he ends up a good player. I pulled a /99 grass auto of Rays pitcher Gary Gill Hill. The Marcos Torres is /75. All of these hits came from four boxes.
