Opening packs on the Road

Our family takes an annual road trip to different portions of the country and since we live in Southern California where retail cards can be hard to come by, I've used our exploration as a way to find cards in locales that there are fewer people. My biggest success in doing this was the trip to Texas in 2021 in which we pulled this Julio Rodriguez prospect auto numbered to 99. We found it in a random value Bowman pack that had been stuffed behind some candy at a Walmart checkout in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. After the breakout rookie season Julio had, it has been my best find to date while out on the road, and second biggest pull ever.

This year, our trip lead us to Polson, Montana, where I immediately hit up the local Walmart and found some cards to open. Included in that was a couple of Mosaic football hangers, the likes of which I had not seen at a store in SoCal for a long time. I did end up pulling an autographed card, and while it's not a huge hit, it is a name NFL fans will recognize and I always enjoy pulling something signed anyway.

It is the Orange Mosaic Scripts of former Patriots receiver and current Raiders receiver, Jakobi Meyers. As my brother in law is a massive Patriots fan, there is a good chance this ends up getting traded for something.

Side note: If you have not been to Montana, I highly suggest going if you can.
