Two successive Through the Mail Failures

Image
If you ever check my through the mail tracker , you'll notice that far more often than not I have had good luck with getting requested items back. Last week did not quite go that way for me, however. First, I suppose I did get a moderate success, or a half success, from Dolphins linebacker and football Hall of Famer Zach Thomas. He did not sign the card I had enclosed in the envelope, but did send me back a pre signed postcard sized card. I'll take that over getting shutout any day. You can tell it's live ink, so it's actually signed. Why I don't classify this as quite the success I was hoping for is there are other people that send to Zach that do get their cards signed and returned. Others get what I got above. The second return of the week was worse. I got my card returned to me unsigned by former PGA golfer Davis Love III. This one baffled me a bit because everyone that has sent to him has had success, so I'm putting this one down to a fluke. Still, it'...

Jaromir Jagr Private Signing

I got my second recent return from a private signing. This time is future member of the hockey Hall of Fame, Jaromir Jagr. I sent a 1990 score rookie card in for this signing, and am very happy with the result. This is the same card I used for the through the mail request I sent to Martin Brodeur a couple of years ago. Looking back on it, that was a pretty good couple of draft picks made.

Larry Walker Private Signing

It has been a bit quiet for me on the autograph front lately, but that was a interrupted for a bit by a return from a private signing I sent in for about three months ago. Larry Walker was signing at The National, the annual sports cards convention in which a hundred or so big name athletes show up to sign. I sent in to a 3rd party handling items via Sportscollectors.net . One interesting tidbit about my return this time is that the front of my envelope appeared to have been slit open as to better view what was inside. It was a big enough opening for the card to have been removed, but thankfully it was still inside of the envelope. This is a 1990 Upper Deck rookie card, and it came out very well. I have another card coming back from the same promoter for Jaromir Jagr and I expect that will arrive any day now.
