SoCal Autograph Odysses

 Sometimes, it's not necessarily the all-time great of the greats that become the happiest pulls. Sometimes, it's really cool to pull an autograph of a player that played for your favorite team and was pretty close to being a club legend. In my case, I took Liverpool in a case break of Topps UCC Breakers Delight, and they ended up pulling this really cool Sadio Mane purple /75 autograph. I was thrilled with this hit, as much as I would have been for legends of the game.

 Another big soccer legend was recently added to the collection, as I had an opportunity to purchase a Neymar Mosaic autograph. As my collection has grown, my list of soccer legend names that I want to add to the collection has dwindled (and not coincidentally gotten more expensive) so I have to pick when and how I choose certain players. Some of the big names I have yet to acquire from a card standpoint are Messi, Maradona, and Beckenbauer. I do have a Messi signed artwork piece which is awesome, however. 

 Yesterday was probably the biggest mail day I've had in my time in this hobby. Via some breaks on Fanatics Live as well as a couple direct purchases, I had no fewer than six autographs delivered to me. Starting with hits from breaks, I got the following two AC Milan legends. Andriy Shevchenko orange auto /25 as well as one of the greatest defenders of all time, Paolo Maldini black lazer blue auto /150. I took AC Milan in quite a few breaks because they have such a big legends checklist.  Another hit from a break was this awesome gold /50 dual autograph of Newcastle legends Alan Shearer (the all time Premier League goalscorer) and Les Ferdinand. It's a really beautiful card in person as well. Finally, the last hit from a break in this post was from a Juventus spot I purchased, in which I hit David Trezeguet numbered /199.  A couple of weeks ago, a new Topps soccer product came out so of course I joined into some breaks that happened on release day. Here's a secret for anyone trying to get into breaks for the first time as well. If you buy break spots on release day, the spots will be cheaper than they will be at any other point in time for a couple of reasons. One, competition. All the breakers have the same product and want to open it on the same day, so you will have multiple options to shop around on and find the best price on a team. No one breaker will charge exorbitant prices because no one will buy their spots. The supply drives the pricing down. Second, there is a lot of supply when the product comes out so the scarcity and the FOMO doesn't kick in. Breakers will 100% take advantage of FOMO a couple weeks later and they are the only one opening a specific product.  2025-26 Topps Chrome Premier League came out a few months ago and I have to say, it is probably to date my all-time favorite set. The quality of the cards, the big auto checklist, the nice parallels, I liked all of it. I have been jumping into breaks with this stuff for the entirety of those few months and participated in what is probably my final break of the stuff last week. I pretty much ran the gamut of all the releases of the product, from Chrome, to Sapphire, to LogoFractor. You can look back at my posts and see what I came away with overall.
